sites of two of the league’s most successful team events in 2007.
The tournament will feature the top four athletes from the IFL regular
season in each of five weight categories. The winner from each weight
class will be crowned a world Grand Prix champion, rewarding their
great individual athletic accomplishment in team-based MMA.

office, by calling 1-888-SEARSTIX, or online at www.ifl.tv. Tickets for the

August 17, at 10 a.m. ET. Tickets can be purchased at the Mohegan Sun
box office, online at www.Ticketmaster.com, or by calling Ticketmaster
at 1-860-886-0070.
Among the stars scheduled to compete are Silverbacks’ heavyweight Ben
Rothwell (Milwaukee, Wis.), Anacondas teen sensation lightweight Chris
Horodecki (London, Ontario), Sabres’ light heavyweight standout
Vladimir Matyushenko (Belarus) and Anacondas’ unbeaten middleweight Benji
Radach (Coconut Creek, Fla.). Among the highly-anticipated matchups
are rematches between Rothwell and Roy Nelson (Las Vegas) of the Lions
and between Horodecki and Bart Palaszewski (Wonder Lake, Ill.) of the
Silverbacks. Additionally, Wagnney Fabiano (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil),
unbeaten and the only IFL athlete with three first-round wins, takes on
John Gunderson (Medford, Ore.) in the deep lightweight division.
“The World Grand Prix provides an additional stage for our top
athletes at every weight class,” said IFL Commissioner and Co-Founder Kurt
Otto. “In addition to striving for the team championship, the best
of the best have the opportunity to compete for an individual
championship belt, which will give fans the chance to see great matchups between
the IFL’s rising stars.
“The fact that every team has at least one qualifier for the World
Grand Prix also speaks to the quality and depth of our teams across the
board.”
The unbeaten Los Angeles Anacondas have the most qualified athletes
with four. The Quad Cities Silverbacks are next with three, while the
Toronto Dragons, Nevada Lions and Tokyo Sabres have two each and the
remaining seven teams have one apiece. All 20 competitors (four at each
weight class) will take to the ring in the semifinals in Chicago. The
winners will advance to the finals at Mohegan Sun, which will also include
a series of Superfights to round out the card. In the event of injury
prior to the competition, the fifth seed (alternate) will fill the
vacated spot.
IFL team competition reaches its pinnacle over the next six weeks, as
the 2007 IFL World Championship semifinals are set for Thursday, August
2, at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J., with the
finals set for Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Seminole Hard Rock in
Hollywood, Fla.
Athletes were selected for the World Grand Prix based on their
respective match records during the 2007 regular season. In the event of a
tie, competitors with the fastest finishes or best strength of victories
earned the higher seeds. The winners then defend their individual belts
throughout the 2008 IFL season (dates and locations TBA).
The full rosters for the World Grand Prix Semifinals follow. Bout
order will be determined prior to the Official Weigh-in on November 2.

NEW YORK, July 18, 2007 – The International Fight League (OTC.BB:

regular season, and now they’ll try to take the next step towards the
biggest prize in MMA, the IFL World Championship,” said IFL CEO and
Co-Founder Gareb Shamus. “Fans will have the opportunity to see some of
the sport’s biggest stars go at it in matchups that feature the widely
contrasting styles of their coaches.”
Each of the 12 IFL teams competed in three regular-season events from
January through June 2007. Those with the best overall records have
advanced to the semifinals. The two teams that advance will meet
Thursday, September 20, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood,
Florida, for the first-ever IFL World Championship. Members of the winning
team will also receive Championship rings, as in other major American
team sports.
In addition to the team competition, the IFL will hold a season-ending

servicemen and women and is the latest stop in the HeadBlade Steve Wilkos
summer Tour.
“This is another in the latest of ways which we can honor our
servicemen and women, and work with our partner HeadBlade, along with one of
the most recognizable faces in television, Steve Wilkos,” said Gareb
Shamus, IFL co-founder and CEO. “It will be an honor for the IFL to
be on base at Miramar, and we think the troops will enjoy meeting some
of our rising stars, along with the venerable Don Frye and one of the
great female instructors and competitors in MMA in Debi Purcell.”
Among the IFL athletes attended and conducting the clinic at Miramar
will be a pair of former Marines, Adam Lynn (Pittsburgh) of the Southern
California Condors and Brian Foster (Moreno Valley, Calif.) of the San
Jose Razorclaws. Foster won his last match on May 19, a TKO over

Wilkos is thrilled to be working with the IFL and looking forward to
stopping at Miramar on his multi-city promotional tour. “I served in
the United States Marine Corps for 6 ½ years. The thing about being a
Marine is that you develop a great sense of integrity and discipline,
and you learn how to get the job done, no matter what. I am really
looking forward to visiting my fellow marines, always brothers, at Miramar
along with the great guys of the IFL.”
The Miramar event is the latest in a series of activities the IFL is
undertaking to honor the military. The IFL is a strategic partner with
the USO, and has conducted clinics in the Persian Gulf, aboard ships for
Fleet Week and at bases in Everett, Wash., Chicago, and Groton, Conn.
Additional activities will be announced in the coming weeks.

every Monday night, with a replay on Saturday, on MyNetworkTV.
One of the highlights is a behind-the-scenes look at IFL coaches,
athletes, and “IFL Battleground” Co-host Tiffany Fallon on board several
U.S. Navy ships as part of “USO Fleet Week,” during which Navy
sailors and officers and U.S. Marines took part in training,
meet-and-greet and autograph sessions. Fallon joined Silverbacks coach Pat

Lierley (Seattle), a former wrestling champion at New York University who
puts his unbeaten record on the line in his toughest test vs. teen
sensation Chris Horodecki (London, Ontario).
Many of the league’s top stars and matchups are profiled in and out
of the ring in the episode, which features action from the Everett
Events Center in Everett, Wash., including:
• Blackburn looks to re-establish his position among the top IFL
welterweights against tough Jay Hieron (Las Vegas), a native New Yorker and
former junior college All-American wrestler
• Toughguy middleweights Benji Radach (Coconut Creek, Fla./Seattle
native) of the Anacondas vs. Bristol Marunde (Sequim, Wash./Alaska

Marunde interrupted an attempted rape in a nearby apartment, for which he
was cited by the Bellevue, Wash., police.
• Two of the league’s top veterans at light heavyweight clash in a
contrast of styles as Alex Schoenauer (Las Vegas), a native of
Argentina who moved to the U.S. at age 15, has an advanced Engineering degree
and also used to captain ships on the Pacific, battles Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu expert Allan Goes (Aliso Viejo, Calif/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,
native), who has won all three of his IFL bouts to date.
• Former wrestlers who have big right hands to match put their skills
to the test as Krzysztof Soszynski (Winnipeg, Manitoba), a former
professional wrestler who also runs an MMA series in Winnipeg, challenges
Reese Andy (Billings, Mont.), an All-America grappler at the Univ. of
Wyoming.
Additionally, the search for the next IFL Ring Girls wraps up, with two
ladies facing elimination as the final selections are made prior to
the IFL Championships.
MORE THAN 150 HOPEFULS PARTICIPATE IN TRYOUT FOR KEN SHAMROCK’S
INTERNATIONAL FIGHT LEAGUE (IFL) 2007 LIONS TEAM
Talented Athletes From Across USA On Hand; Team To Be Determined In
Coming Weeks
RENO, Nev., November 29, 2006- The International Fight League, the
world’s first team-based professional mixed martial arts league, and MMA
legend Ken Shamrock, head coach of the new Nevada-based Lions team,
today conducted an open tryout, with more than 150 athletes vying for
spots on his eight-member 2007 squad. The event, held at the Stadium Sport
and Fitness Club lasted more than six hours, with athletes at all five
official weight classes going through numerous drills and sparring in
several mixed martial arts disciplines.
“I was impressed with not only the depth of talent in the attendees,
but also with how many of the guys showed the desire and ability to
learn and work within the team framework,” said Shamrock. “Skills and
talent are important, but I’m looking for those guys that will be
willing to do the things that make a team successful, while knowing that
they can be the best and aren’t afraid to go out and prove it. I saw
a lot of that in the gym today.”
Shamrock will be reviewing the grades and notes he and his coaches took
on each athlete, as well as video of the session. He noted that he
would be determining his roster in “about a week or two.”
While many of the athletes came from as far away as Honolulu and
Harrisburg, Pa., several of the Reno-based contenders also impressed.
“B” Niimi, 33, got a long look, continuing to be called late into the
lightweight division drills, and was excited for the chance to test his
mettle against top competition. “This was a great opportunity to come
out and train with some of the top fighters in the world,” he noted.
“It was a fun thing to do.”
Shamrock met with athletes at each weight class, first giving a
synopsis of how the tryout would be conducted, then emphasizing the importance
he placed on teamwork and always working hard in determining the best
candidates for him. That was not lost on veteran MMA athletes like John
Gunderson, 27, of Medford, Ore., or relative newcomers to the sport
like Herbert Goodman, 29, of Green Bay, Wis., a former running back for
the NFL’s Packers.
“Training under Ken Shamrock was exceptional because he is one of the
icons of this sport,” said Gunderson. “The training was stern and
he definitely wanted us to work hard. I think that’s what attracted
so many elite guys to an event like this.”
Goodman concurred. “[Shamrock] brings so much experience, he
instills such confidence, you know he can mold you into the kind of fighter he
wants, and that it will bring out the best in you.”
Shamrock will select five starters and three alternates to complete the
Lions squad. He indicated that spots will be contested each year at
similar tryouts, with those surviving the tryouts going up against the
incumbent Lions for spots on the team the following year.
Shamrock’s Lions, competing for the first time as one of 12 IFL teams
competing in the 2007 season, will open on January 19 at the ORACLE
Arena in Oakland, Calif., with a match against his brother Frank
Shamrock’s Razorclaws, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Each IFL team will compete in
three matches during the regular season (January through June); the four
with the best records advancing to the postseason (August, September).
INTERNATIONAL FIGHT LEAGUE (IFL) ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL ELEVEN EVENT 2007
NATIONAL SCHEDULE
Coast-to-coast events, multi-year venue partnerships all part of
calendar that opens with Ken Shamrock vs. Frank Shamrock-led teams
in Oakland, California on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007
NEW YORK, November 29, 2006- The International Fight League, (OTC.BB:
IFLI) the world’s first team-based professional mixed martial arts
league, today announced its full 11-event 2007 schedule, the most
comprehensive advance schedule in the history of fight sports. The full slate
includes events in eight different states and kicks off with the
Nevada-based Lions (coached by legend Ken Shamrock) facing the San Jose-based
Razorclaws (coached by his brother, world champion Frank Shamrock) at
the ORACLE Arena in Oakland, Calif., on Friday, January 19. The arena
partnerships were secured by the IFL through its partnership with the
William Morris Agency, and many include multi-year commitments to the
IFL.
“This is a landmark day for all fight sports in general and for the
growing number of fans of Mixed Martial Arts in particular,” said IFL
Co-founder and Commissioner Kurt Otto. “For the first time, fans and
business partners will be able to plot out their entire event calendar
well in advance, and know where and when they will be able to see these
great athletes and their coaches compete around the country in 2007.”
“We were very pleased with the interest of so many venues to work
with the IFL,” said Marc Geiger of William Morris. “It is a great
sign for both the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and for the solid business
plan that the IFL has that these very prestigious arenas were so eager
to do multi-year partnerships.”
Each of the nine regular season events will consist of four teams –
each with an athlete in all five weight classes competing – along with
a special Superfight, for a minimum of 11 bouts per card. Each of the
12 IFL teams for 2007 will compete in three regular season events; the
teams with the top four overall win-loss team records will advance to
the semi-finals, which will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at
Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The 2007 IFL
Finals will then be held at The Forum in Los Angeles on Saturday,
September 15, 2007. The IFL will also hold a Grand Prix all-star event,
comprised of the athletes with the top eight individual win-loss records,
following the completion of the team season, with the dates and times to
be announced.
All events will be subject to the rules and approval of the state
athletic commissions in each state in which the event will be held.
The 10 venues for the 2007 season (The Forum will host two events) will
scale to between 7,000 and 13,000 seats, which has been consistent with
the IFL’s plan of managed growth. The venues for the inaugural season
will include:
• The ORACLE Arena (Oakland, Calif.) on Friday, January 19
• Reliant Arena (Houston) on Friday, February 2
• The Arena at Gwinnett Center (Atlanta) on Friday, February 23
• The Forum (Los Angeles) on Friday, March 17
• The MARK of the Quad Cities (Moline, Ill.) on Saturday, April 7
• Jenkins Arena/Lakeland Center (Lakeland, Fla.) on Friday, April 13
• Sears Centre (Chicago) on Saturday, May 19 • Everett Events Center (Everett, Wash.) on Friday, June 1
• TBD on Saturday, June 23
2007 Semi-Finals
• Continental Airlines Arena (East Rutherford, N.J.) on Thursday,

2007 Finals
• The Forum (Los Angeles) on Saturday, September 15
The start time for each event is 7:30 p.m. local time. The matchup
schedule for each event is below.
Tickets to each venue, with the exception of East Rutherford and the
Finals in Los Angeles, are currently on sale through www.ifl.tv and
www.Ticketmaster.com, at Ticketmaster outlets, and via telephone through
Ticketmaster. Ticket prices range between $25 and $150, also in keeping
with the IFL plan for the inaugural season.
INTERNATIONAL FIGHT LEAGUE (IFL) BECOMES PUBLICLY TRADED COMPANY
Completes Merger and Begins Trading Under New Stock Symbol: IFLI
NEW YORK, November 29, 2006- International Fight League, Inc. (OTC.BB:
IFLI), the world’s first team-based professional mixed martial arts
league, today reached another milestone in its early history, becoming
one of a handful of professional sports entities to be traded as a
public company. Effective today, the IFL begins trading on the over the
counter bulletin board under the symbol “IFLI.”
“This is a landmark day for all fight sports, ranging from Mixed
Martial Arts (MMA) to professional boxing,” said IFL CEO Gareb Shamus.
“As a publicly traded sports entity, the IFL will be able to help the
sport grow beyond its current boundaries and move into the mainstream
with both fans and business partners. MMA has seen some significant
growth in the last few years, from the emergence of the Ultimate Fighting
Championship (UFC) on Spike TV to increasing ratings and attendance
numbers, and we expect our model to add to that success in this new
expanded international sports marketplace.”
“For a long time, champions of the sport like Ken Shamrock, Frank
Shamrock, Renzo Gracie, Matt Lindland, Bas Rutten, Antonio Inoki and Pat
Miletich have never been able to achieve the renown in the mainstream
that they have long sought,” said IFL Commissioner Kurt Otto. “By
becoming a public company and having them part of the IFL, we feel that
not only these legends, but the next wave of athletes, will get more of
what they work for and deserve in terms of recognition. It’s a great
day for all fans, business partners and competitors in the sport of
Mixed Martial Arts.”
The IFL, which began less than eight months ago with the IFL “Legends
Championship” at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey has
already experienced success on every level. Early developments have
included:
• A deal with Fox Sports Net (FSN) to cover the initial IFL events
that grew from three hours in the spring to 10 hours in the fall and
pulled in millions of viewers.
• Initial business partners such as Microsoft’s XBox, Suzuki, Dale
and Thomas Popcorn, Coca Cola’s Vault brand and Sandal’s Resorts.
• Attendance at events in Atlantic City, Portland, Oregon and Moline, Illinois exceeded original projections.
• The attendance at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut for
the “World Team Championship” final on Friday December 29 is also
expected to be near-capacity.
The League will very soon announce its 11 date schedule for its 2007
regular season, and will begin 2007 with a 12 team field representing 10
United States cities (including four teams in California, two in
Illinois and others) Toronto, Ontario and Tokyo, Japan. The League plans
further expansion to include additional teams from around the globe.
Each of the nine regular season IFL events will consist of four teams
– each with an athlete in all five weight classes competing – along
with a special Superfight, for a minimum of 11 bouts per card. The
team that wins the best three of five match setup will be declared the
team winner for the match, similar to collegiate and high school
wrestling meets. The IFL also differs from other MMA organizations in that the
bouts are held in an oversized five rope boxing ring with three four
minute rounds, each designed to create the most compelling in-arena
experience for local fans.
All events will be subject to the rules and approval of the applicable
state athletic commission. The scoring system is similar to
professional boxing as well. However, in the event of a draw, a fourth round
will take place to decide a winner.
The four IFL regular season teams with the best records will move on to
the IFL semi-finals expected to be in early August, 2007, with the
first IFL Team Champion expected to be crowned in mid-September, 2007.
After receiving the requisite shareholder approval at Monday’s
special meeting of Paligent, Inc. (OTC.BB: PGNT) shareholders, the IFL
completed its previously announced merger with Paligent, which was effective
at 1:01 A.M. this morning. The merger became effective immediately
after a 1-for-20 reverse stock split by Paligent. Immediately following
the merger, Paligent changed its name to International Fight League,
Inc. Shareholders of Paligent will continue to own their post-split
shares, but will be entitled to receive new certificates representing the
same number of IFL shares of common stock as the number of post-split
Paligent shares they held, which will constitute approximately 5% of the
outstanding stock of IFL. The holders of the pre-merger International
Fight League, Inc. shares of common stock (including the converted
Series A preferred stock) will be entitled to receive approximately 1.032373
shares of post-merger Paligent shares of common stock, which will
constitute approximately 95% of the outstanding stock of IFL. Letters
of transmittal will be sent to appropriate holders for them to receive
their new shares.
INTERNATIONAL FIGHT LEAGUE (IFL) COMPLETES 12 TEAM FIELD FOR INAUGURAL
2007 SEASON BY ADDINING CHICAGO-BASED TEAM OF RUSSIAN FIGHTERS
Red Bears will live and train together in a renovated Fire House
NEW YORK, November 27, 2006– The International Fight League (IFL) today
announced that completion of its 12-team field for its 2007 season,
adding a Chicago-based team of Russian fighters named the Red Bears. The
inaugural IFL season will begin in the first quarter of 2007, with the
11 date full season schedule to be announced shortly.
“We are very pleased that we have been able to add this group of
up-and-coming athletes as the 12th team for our first full season,” said IFL
Co-founder and Commissioner Kurt Otto. “Chicago is a hotbed for the
sport and this will create a great natural rivalry with our Quad Cities
team, as well as giving the strong Russian following of the sport a team
to follow and connect with.”
The Red Bears will be coached by MMA veteran Igor Zinoviev and will
consist of a roster of athletes from Russia, who will live and train
together in a renovated fire house in Chicago.
The announcement of the Chicago-based team brings to 12 the final
number for the IFL’s first season. Teams based in Reno, Nevada; Tucson,
Arizona; and Orange County, California, were announced earlier in the
fall, and will join with the original eight IFL teams who have competed in
the IFL “Legends” and “World Team Championship” tournaments which were
held this spring and fall. The final IFL event for 2006 will take
place at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday, December 29
between the Moline-based Silverbacks and the Portland-based Wolfpack.
SILVERBACKS-WOLFPACK MATCHUP, GRACIE-NEWTON SUPERFIGHT HEADLINE INTERNATIONAL FIGHT LEAGUE WORLD TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL DECEMBER 29 AT MOHEGAN SUN ARENA
Eight Other IFL Athletes To Compete In Intraleague Superfights On
10-Fight Card
NEW YORK, November 20, 2006-- The International Fight League (IFL), the
world’s first team-based professional mixed martial arts league, today
announced the rosters for the 2006 IFL World Team Championship final,
to be held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on
Friday, December 29, at 7 p.m. The team matchup between the Silverbacks,
coached by Pat Miletich and based in Quad Cities, Iowa/Ill., and the
Wolfpack, coached by Matt Lindland and based in Portland, Ore., yields five
outstanding bouts. Renzo Gracie (Holmdel, N.J.) and Carlos Newton
(Newmarket, Ontario) will square off in a Superfight matching two MMA
legends and the coaches of the New York and Toronto teams, respectively. And
four other bouts will feature members of IFL teams which did not
advance to the finals, for a total of 10 fights on the card.
Tickets for the IFL World Team Championship Final at Mohegan Sun are on
sale now and are available through the Mohegan Sun Box Office and
Ticketmaster. Customers may log onto www.ticketmaster.com, call any
Ticketmaster phone number, or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.
The pairing of the Silverbacks and Wolfpack, who advanced to the final
with respective semifinal victories in Portland on Nov. 2, brings
together many of the league’s top athletes in intriguing matchups. The
lightweight bout pits the Silverbacks’ Bart Palaszewski (Wonderlake, Ill.)
against Ryan Schultz (Eagle Creek, Ore.). Sluggers Rory Markham
(Chicago) and Chris Wilson (Portland, Ore.) go at it at 170 lbs. Ryan
McGivern (Bettendorf, Iowa) takes on Matt Horwich (Gresham, Ore.) in the
middleweight division. Mike Ciesnolevicz (Williamstown, Pa.) tangles with
Aaron Stark (Portland, Ore.) at light heavyweight, while Ben Rothwell
(Kenosha, Wis.) and Devin Cole (Medford, Ore.) battle in the heavyweight
bout.
In addition to the Gracie-Newton Superfight, four intraleague
Superfights involving IFL athletes supplement the card. Erik Owings (New York),
who has fought for the Pitbulls, takes on Ed West (Tucson, Ariz.), a
member of the Sabres this past year, in a 155-lb. bout. In a pair of
light heavyweight fights, Brent Beauparlant (Montreal, Quebec) of the
Dragons challenges Alex Schoenauer (Las Vegas) of the Anacondas, while the
Pitbulls’ Jamal Patterson (Hoboken, N.J.) battles the Tiger Sharks’
Reese Andy (Billings, Mont.). Krzysztof Soszynski (Winnipeg, Manitoba) of
the Anacondas and Mike Whitehead (Central Point, Ore.), who defeated
Mark Kerr in an IFL Superfight in Portland on Nov. 2, clash in a
heavyweight matchup.
"The Silverbacks and Wolfpack both proved they belong in the finals
after their exciting victories in Portland," IFL co-founder and
Commissioner Kurt Otto said. "By combining those interesting matchups with the
Newton-Gracie Superfight and a series of intraleague Superfights
showcasing some of our best athletes, we have a card that fans will really
enjoy seeing."
The main Superfight will be the second contest between Newton and
Gracie. Newton claimed a split decision on Oct. 5, 2003, in Saitama, Japan.
It will be the first career matchup for competitors in each of other 10
bouts on the card.
INTERNATIONAL FIGHT LEAGUE (IFL) COACH AND MMA LEGEND KEN SHAMROCK TO
HOLD OPEN TRYOUT FOR HIS 2007 LIONS TEAM
Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be held in team’s new home base in
Reno, Nevada on November 29
NEW YORK and RENO, Nev., November 17, 2006- The International Fight
League and head coach of the new Nevada-based Lions team, MMA legend Ken
Shamrock, today announced that the team will hold an open tryout for
elite MMA hopefuls at Reno’s premiere sports facility, The Stadium Sport
and Fitness Club, located at 9393 Gateway in Reno, Nev., at 10:00 a.m.
on Wednesday, November 29. Shamrock’s Lions will have eight team
members, five of whom will be selected to compete per event, when the first
IFL season opens in late January. The tryout is open to all experienced
professional fighters. The full 11-date IFL season will also be
announced during that week.
“While we do have some athletes in mind, we felt that there is a great
interest in the sport and this would be a good opportunity to both show
people what great athletic talent someone needs to compete in the IFL
and to give some of that unknown talent a chance to shine,” Shamrock
said. “We will screen all of the applicants prior to the tryout and see
if we can identify some of the new faces that will help mold the face
of this rising sport. Holding the tryout in both a state and a city
that is very passionate about MMA, and where we will be training as Reno’s
first professional sports team, will be an added plus.”
“One of the greatest things about the sport of Mixed Martial Arts today
is that we are all finding that the pool of very elite talent and
athleticism is deeper than we all may have thought,” said IFL Co-founder and
Commissioner Kurt Otto. “Having one of the world’s greatest
competitors in Ken Shamrock give some of this talent an opportunity to succeed is
very rare in professional sports, and it will be a treat to see which,
if any, of these young hopefuls will stand up to the test.”
The tryout will be limited based on space and time, and it will be open
to the public for viewing. For further details, contact Jerry Milani
at 212/356-4009.

SILVERBACKS, WOLFPACK ADVANCE AT INTERNATIONAL FIGHT LEAGUE WORLD TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP SEMIFINALS IN PORTLAND, OREGON
Teams Advance To Dec. Finals; Whitehead Tops Kerr, Goes defeats D. Gracie in Superfights
PORTLAND, Ore., November 2, 2006 – The Silverbacks and Wolfpack claimed victories at tonight’s International Fight League World Team Championships before an enthusiastic IFL-record crowd of 7,632 at Memorial Coliseum. The Silverbacks, based in Quad Cities, Iowa/Ill., and coached by Pat Miletich, topped the Dragons, who train in Toronto and are coached by Carlos Netwton, by a 4-1 score. In the other semifinal, the homestanding Portland-based Wolfpack, coached by Matt Lindland, edged the Anacondas, based in Los Angeles and coached by Bas Rutten, 3-2. As a result of their victories, the Silverbacks and Wolfpack advanced to the IFL World Team Championship Final at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Dec. 29.
In the two Superfights which followed the team competition, Mike Whitehead (Salt Lake City) registered a first-round TKO of Mark Kerr (Portland, Ore.), and Allan Goes (Rio de Janeiro) defeated Daniel Gracie (Rio de Janeiro) with a second-round TKO.
In the Silverbacks-Dragons matchup, lightweight Bart Palaszewski (Wonderlake, Ill.) drew first blood for Quad Cities, winning a split decision against Ivan Menjivar (Montreal). Rory Markham (Chicago) put his team up, 2-0, winning via TKO when the Dragons’ Keith Wisniewski (Portage, Ind.) could not answer the bell for the fourth round, which was necessitated by a draw after three rounds. Joe Doerksen (Winnipeg, Manitoba) submitted Ryan McGivern (Bettendorf, Iowa) in the middleweight fight to cut Toronto’s deficit in half, on a rear naked choke. But Mike Ciesnolevicz (Williamstown, Pa.) clinched the victory for the Silverbacks by choking out Brent Beauparlant (Ottawa, Ontario) to earn the light heavyweight point. Ben Rothwell (Kenosha, Wis.) tapped out Wojtek Kaszowski (Toronto) in the heavyweight bout via keylock for the final 4-1 margin.
Miletich praised all his athletes, but made particular note of Ciesnolevicz. “Building momentum early on the game was important,” he noted, “but Mike C is one heck of a competitor. That guy’s a horse.”
For his part, Ciesnolevicz added, “Clinching the win for the team is the greatest moment I’ve ever had in fighting.”
In the other semifinal, the Anacondas’ Chris Horodecki (London, Ontario) took it to Ryan Schultz (Gresham, Ore.), winning by TKO early in the second round to give the Anacondas the early 1-0 lead. In what may have been the most exciting bout of the entire evening, welterweights Jay Hieron (Las Vegas) and Chris Wilson (Portland, Ore.) slugged away for three full rounds, with Wilson taking the unanimous decision for the Wolfpack to event the score at 1-1. Matt Horwich (Gresham, Ore.) of the Wolfpack scored a second-round win by submission over Mike Pyle (Dresden, Tenn.) in the middleweight bout; before Aaron Stark (Portland, Ore.) secured the triumph for the Wolfpack with a submission of Alex Schoenauer (Las Vegas) in the light heavyweight matchup. Anacondas heavyweight Krzysztof Soszynski (Winnipeg, Manitoba) earned a submission win over Devin Cole (Medford, Ore.) for the final 3-2 count.
“This was a true team effort,” said Lindland. “We knew coming in how good a fighter each one of the Anacondas was, but our guys came in really focused and aggressive. With that crowd behind us, we were especially happy to get the win and move to the finals.”

KEN SHAMROCK COACH OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA TEAM
NEW YORK, November 2, 2006– The International Fight League (IFL) today
announced that MMA legend Ken Shamrock has been named as coach of the
Northern California-based Lions. The addition of the Lions brings to
11 the number of teams for 2007, with one more to be added shortly. The
inaugural IFL season will begin in the first quarter of 2007.
"This is a great day for the IFL and for fans of Mixed Martial Arts in
general," said IFL co-founder and commissioner Kurt Otto. "We have
been able to bring one of the sports greatest personalities and champions
in Ken Shamrock to our organization."
"I am very proud to be joining the IFL, and believe fully in the
concept as a big part of the future growth of the sport," Shamrock said.
"The athletes in this sport are some of the best in the world, and I am
looking forward to working with the organization to take MMA to the next
level and help create the game’s next stars."
Originally one of the most popular members of the WWE, Shamrock has
enjoyed a 13 year career in MMA and wrestling that has made him one of the
fight world’s most recognizable personalities. He has been an MMA
trailblazer, beginning in 1993 with the launch of Pancrase in Japan, and
quickly emerged as one of the sports early stars. He brought that star
power back to the United States, joining the original UFC group to
participate in the first-ever “Superfight” (with Royce Gracie in 1993), and
went on to become a star of the highly-acclaimed series “The Ultimate
Fighter” on Spike TV. He also began his highly successful coaching and
training career, founding the Lion's Den, a group dedicated to the
training of mixed martial arts fighters. Shamrock returned to professional
wrestling during it’s late 1990s success as well, competing in some of
the biggest WWE cards ever before returning to MMA again in 2000. He
competed first in PRIDE before retuning to the UFC in November of 2002.
In late November of 2005, he was selected by the UFC as a coach for the
third season of The Ultimate Fighter and has enjoyed great success as
an author, competitor and coach over the last nine years. He was
inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2004.

INTERNATIONAL FIGHT LEAGUE (IFL) NAMES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION
IAN FREEMAN AS COACH OF BRITISH TEAM FOR 2008
Expansion into Europe for world’s first Mixed Martial Arts league
begins in the United Kingdom
NEW YORK, November 1, 2006 - The International Fight League (IFL) today
announced the beginning of expansion into Europe by naming world
champion Ian Freeman as the coach of the IFL’s English team, which will begin
participation in the IFL in 2008. The English team will begin
training and participating in IFL activities later this year.
"We are very excited that Ian Freeman has decided to become the first
of what we expect to be several IFL entries from various countries in
the next few years," said IFL co-founder and commissioner Kurt Otto.
"The United Kingdom has fervent support for fight sports in general and is
a growing hotbed for MMA, and we are proud to be able to begin to
establish our European base with Ian and his athletes."
"Being a part of the team concept that the IFL has put together is an
honor for me," Freeman said. "The UK is the perfect starting point for
the league in Europe, and I am looking forward to working with, and
competing against, some of the sports greatest legends as well as training
many of its future stars."
A former boxer, "The Iron Ambassador," is arguably one of the most
popular figures in the fight game in Europe. He began his MMA career
training with world champions (and now fellow IFL coaches) Renzo Gracie and
Marco Ruas and competed in amateur vale tudo before turning pro in 1999.
He steadily gained notoriety, eventually taking the UFC title over
Frank Mir in front of a record British crowd at Royal Albert Hall in July
2002. Freeman has trained, coached and competed in various
organizations over the past few years, most recently taking the British Light
Heavyweight title from Mark Epstein in September 30, 2006.
The addition of a team in the UK now brings the total of teams outside
the United States to three, with more teams expected to be named in the
near future. The Sabres, based in Tokyo and coached by Antonio Inoki,
and the Dragons, based in Toronto, Ontario and coached by Carlos
Newton, have already begun play and will be part of the IFL inaugural 12 team
season that will begin in the first quarter of 2007. The final two
entries for 2007, which will both be United States-based, will be
announced shortly, with the full 11 date IFL schedule to follow.

the middleweight bout; at light heavyweight, Alex Schoenauer (Las Vegas)
opposes Aaron Stark (Portland, Ore.); and heavyweights Krzysztof
Soszynski (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Devin Cole (Medford, Ore.) complete the
Anacondas-Wolfpack matchup.
The other semifinal promises an equally intriguing set of bouts. A
pair of once-beaten welterweights, Claude Patrick (Mississauga, Ontario)
of the Dragons and Rory Markham (Chicago) of the Silverbacks will do
battle; Joe Doerksen (Winnipeg, Manitoba) takes on Ryan McGivern
(Bettendorf, Iowa) in the middleweight fight; Brent Beauparlant (Ottawa,
Ontario) and Mike Ciesnolevicz (Williamstown, Pa.) will go after the light
heavyweight point; and Wojtek Kaszowski (Toronto) challenges Ben Rothwell
(Kenosha, Wis.) in the heavyweight bout. Silverbacks lightweight Bart
Palaszewski (Wonderlake, Ill.) will battle a Dragons opponent still to
be determined. Both teams moved to the semifinals with victories at
the World Team Championship event in Moline, Ill., on Sept. 23.
"These four teams proved they belong with tough wins in the
quarterfinals, and the result is a card full of fights that fans will really
enjoy," IFL co-founder and Commissioner Kurt Otto said. "As a bonus, Mark
Kerr's return to the ring against Mike Whitehead and Daniel Gracie vs.
Allan Goes in a battle of Brazilians are very interesting Superfights."
The semifinal winners will advance to the IFL World Team Championship
final in December. The site and date of the final, as well as
accompanying Superfights, will be announced shortly.
Kerr is a former NCAA wrestling champion and All-American (at Syracuse
University) and UFC and PRIDE heavyweight champion who is returning to
the ring for the first time since 2004. MMA veteran Whitehead, also a
three-time all-America wrestler at North Idaho Junior College, Southern
Oregon University and the University of Missouri, has posted a 9-1
record in his last 10 MMA bouts, including five straight victories in 2006.
Brazilians Gracie and Goes have both made successful IFL debuts, with
Gracie defeating Wes Sims in an IFL Superfight in June and Goes
defeating Devin Cole in September as part of the Tiger Sharks.

SILVERBACKS, DRAGONS ADVANCE AT INTERNATIONAL FIGHT LEAGUE WORLD TEAM
CHAMPIONSHIP IN MOLINE
Silverbacks edge Pitbulls, Dragons Take Out Razorclaws; Gracie Submits
Miletich in Superfight
Moline, Ill., Sept. 23, 2006 - The Silverbacks, based in the Quad
Cities, and Dragons, based in Toronto, claimed victories in the 2006
International Fight League World Championship quarterfinals, a mixed martial
arts competition held in front of 6,212 at The MARK of the Quad Cities
tonight. Renzo Gracie (Holmdel, N.J.) submitted local hero Pat Miletich
(Bettendorf, Iowa) via guillotine choke in the first round of their
highly-anticipated Superfight which followed the team competition. The
Silverbacks edged the Pitbulls, who train in New York, 3-2, while the
Dragons topped the Razorclaws, based in San Jose, 3-2.
In the first matchup, Bart Palaszewski (Bettendorf, Iowa) took an
entertaining lightweight split decision from Marcio Feitosa (Lake Forest,
Calif.) to stake the Silverbacks, coached by Miletich, to a 1-0 lead.
Welterweight Rory Markham (Bettendorf, Iowa) landed a series of punches to
knock out Marcelo Azevedo (New York) with just two seconds left in the
first round for a 2-0 Silverbacks lead. Fabio Leopoldo (Sao Paulo)
shaved the Gracie-led Pitbulls' deficit in half by turning the tables on
Ryan McGivern (Bettendorf, Iowa) with a knee bar submission at 2:49 of
the second round of their middleweight bout. Light heavyweight Andre
Gusmao (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tied the match with a technical knockout of Mike
Ciesnelovicz (Bettendorf, Iowa) one minute into the second round. That
set the stage for the decisive heavyweight battle, in which Ben
Rothwell (Bettendorf, Iowa) delivered the 3-2 victory for the host
Silverbacks, knocking out Bryan Vetell (Jamaica, N.Y.) with a devastating right
hand
just over three minutes into the first round.
“The roar of the crows gets the fire in me going,” said Rothwell
following the clinching victory. “I didn't want to overextend, I was trying
to counter his moves, and the timing was just right for the strike.”
Later, the Dragons, coached by Carlos Newton, earned a narrow victory
over Frank Shamrock’s Razorclaws squad. The Razorclaws' Josh Odom
(Tallahassee, Fla.) scored a third-round TKO over Rob Di Cenzo (Woodbridge,
Ontario) in the lightweight bout, before welterweight Claude Patrick
(Toronto) earned the equalizer for the Dragons with a guillotine choke of
Ray Steinbeiss (Tempe, Ariz.). Veteran middleweight Joe Doerksen
(Winnipeg, Manitoba) moved the Dragons ahead, 2-1, with a late second-round
submission over Brian Foster (Moreno Valley, Calif.). In a
crowd-pleasing light heavyweight slugfest, Brent Beauparlant (Montreal, Quebec)
and Raphael Davis (Torrance, Calif.) traded blows for three full rounds,
with Beauparlant earning the decision to secure the victory for the
Dragons. In the final match, Travis Wiuff (Rochester, Minn.) of the
Razorclaws decisioned Wojtek Kaszowski (Mississauga, Ontario) for the final
3-2 margin.
“I'm very proud of everyone,” said Newton, whose squad won its IFL
debut.
“This [the IFL] has been a great experience for me,” said Doerksen, who
has 36 wins in 45 career MMA bouts. “It's a new idea, and I guess a
part of me was skeptical at first but this has been great.”
In the Superfight, Gracie gained the upper hand midway through the
first round, holding a guillotine choke on Miletich for more than a minute
before Miletich tapped out.
“I set him up for the choke but at first I didn’t have it,” said
Gracie, who is now 11-6-1 in his first bout since last July and first victory
since 2001. “He didn't take me down, so I raised up and locked it. I
knew I wasn't going to let go.”
“I had a blast getting ready for the fight,” added Miletich. “Training
with my team really motivated me. I just didn't trust my neck
[following injury] to take him to the ground there.”
The Silverbacks and Dragons now advance to the semifinal round of the
IFL World Team Championship, where they will battle for a spot in the
finals in December; the date and location of both events will be
announced in the coming weeks. The Wolfpack, based in Portland, and Anacondas,
from Los Angeles, will compete in the other semifinal that date.
In the preliminary bouts between the teams' alternates, Delson Heleno
of the Pitbulls knocked out Ben Uker of the Silverbacks at 3:14 of the
first round, and Dennis Hallman of the Dragons defeated Jeff Quinlan of
the Razorclaws by majority decision.
